Vechain has been working on its own blockchain, the VechainThor blockchain, for multiple years now. Vechain’s mainnet is currently under internal alpha testing and mainnet is scheduled to go live end of June.
The VechainThor blockchain release
Vechain understands that, even after years of development and testing, launching its main net is not a task that should be taken lightly.
We have all seen the problems other blockchain projects like Waltonchain faced after they launched their mainnet. Because the Vechain blockchain will have a massive amount of transactions, right from its launch, Vechain has set up a rigorous testing process divided into various stages:
Mid-April – Mid May: alpha 1.0
Internal testing is currently taking place.
Mid May – Early June: alpha test 2.0
This test will consist of several reputable third party cyber security and code auditors ranging from private firms to esteemed enterprises.
Next to this Vechain is looking for 100 other participants who would like to join this test. If you have a background in blockchain development, enterprise software development or application testing, you can apply for the alpha test 2.0 by sending your resume to bd@vechain.com. Bounties are in place for those that give a valuable contribution to the core team during this period.
Early June – End of June: Public beta test.
After both alpha tests have finished, Vechain will be releasing a public beta test in which everyone can test out the VechainThor blockchain and wallet.
During the public beta test, the Vechain Foundation will also make the code base open to the public!
End of June: the launch of mainnet
After the launch of mainnet the Vechain token will be called VET (instead of VEN) and all owners of VET will start creating VeThor.
More details about the mainnet release, like how you can convert your current Vechain erc-20 tokens, will come as we get closer to the launch of mainnet.
