Ledger hardware wallet support coming to Vechain

2

On the ledger roadmap, a new milestone has appeared, showing that support for Vechain is on its way once we have moved away from Ethereum.

Ledger is one of the two leading companies offering hardware wallets to safely store your cryptocurrencies. Although expensive, hardware wallets are the safest way to store your private keys, making sure you don’t lose access to the funds stored in your crypto wallet.

Support for Vechain is under development as seen on the official Ledger Roadmap

About Ledger

The ledger hardware wallet currently supports around 30 different cryptocurrencies. Support for all the major coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin has been available for a while now, and the Ledger team is working hard to make more coins available in the future.

If you are looking to buy one of the various ledger hardware wallets, I advise you to always buy from the official ledger website or use one of the officially listed resellers.

Storing Vechain on your ledger

Vechain (VEN) currently is an Ethereum (erc-20) token, because of this it is currently already possible to store your VEN safely on your ledger hardware wallet.

At the end of this month, Vechain will launch its own mainnet and all erc-20 tokens will be converted to the native Vechain (VET) coins.

The Vechain foundation has stated that security is a top priority and the wallet storing the holdings of users is one of the key aspects of the ecosystem. This is why its great to see that even when Vechain has moved way from Ethereum, you will still be able to store your Vechain on a ledger device.

If ledger support will be available at right at the launch of mainnet is still unclear, we will update this post once we find out more.

We expect Vechain to release details on how to change your VEN to VET soon, don’t forget to follow us on twitter to stay up to date about this!

  1. Good afternoon, there is so much news out there to remain updated on all changed, but I often lack time to read up on all.
Did the VeChain mainnet become active? (VET)
And is Nano Ledger S already capable of storing VET?

If I buy VeChain now, will it always automatically be VET or is is still possible that I buy VENs?

    Thank you for your help.
    Kind regatds,
    Marc

  2. According the Ledger sote, the VeChain app can be downloaded on the Ledger Nano S.
As I read on, To do that, you must work via their Ledger Live app, which only works on 64-bit operating systems, and my old notebook runs on 32-bit. I asked their Support if now my Ledger Nano S is getting outdated, since I cannot download VET on it.
Still waiting for their reply, since they only work 9 to 17 hrs.
